SS #49 6.5 miles varying between class 1-2 The Umpqua flows through bedrock in many areas creating multiple little straight chutes which are nearly hypnotic in the pleasure of finding your line. A good chance someone will get wet but with warm temperatures and low humidity becoming chilled is not an issue. Helmets needed on this paddle as there are areas of class 2. Not beginner water, this paddle is a step up in moving water. A carpool from the Mid Willamette Valley is possible, Camping overnight Friday evening is possible as we register and input the wants of the group. Register on the WKCC website for details about the launch, shuttle and takeout.

The Long Tom River which lays in the Southwest Willamette Valley is reservoir fed by Fern Ridge Reservoir. Its low consistent flow is maintained through the Summer by the Corps of Engineers for irrigation. This paddle will be shallow, slow and safe for beginners, but interesting for intermediates working the river for that best line. Our flat water paddlers will be comfortable too. Being not too far North of Eugene, I hope to see some of those members too this evening. Paddle will be about 2 hours, 3.5 miles. Register for the paddle on the WKCC website to receive email with launch, shuttle, and takeout details.
