Wednesday Evening Booneville and Willamette Middle Ch Class 1

About this event

I had a conversation with Loren Smith who is a distant descendant of Greenberry Smith (1820-1866) Oregon Pioneer and namesake of the Greenberry Store and Tavern on Hwy 99W in Benton County, Loren tells me that I was incorrect in calling this channel the West Channel, Pat Welch is correct in that the channel forming the west side of Kiger Island was called "the Willamette Middle Channel" even in the 1800's The Channel further West is of course the Booneville Channel. This is a docile paddle suitable for learners, we will paddle up the slow moving Middle Channel for about 45 minutes and return back down the channel. Come paddle with us and hear stories about the steam ships that plied the Willamette River serving Albany, Corvallis, Peoria, and other ports in the 1800's, and the little known ghost community of Booneville near the present day Corvallis Airport.
Register for this paddle to receive an email with details about the launch & takeout.
