Willamette, West Channel, Class 2

About this event

This is a niche paddle of a strand of the Willamette River, flowing on the West side of Kiger Island. This paddle will be 8.5 miles. The venue is brushy, it needs to be done while the Willamette is high enough to put water in the channel. There is one spot about midway where the flow does a dogleg and tends to push a paddler sideways into brush. We typically have someone or more immerse at this spot. For this one point I list this as a Class 2, the remainder of the paddle is Class 1, just flowing. A paddler needs either a dry suit, or a change of clothes in a waterproof bag. Not a suitable paddle for your very first paddle, but is suitable for learners who have good ability to control your paddle craft. A group of 9 paddled this in 2021 finding its quirkiness a pleasure. Register for this paddle to receive an Email with details about the launch and takeout.
