Calapooia below Brownsville, Class 2

About this event

A 5.5 mile paddle on the Calapooia as it enters the Willamette Valley, Not a lot of gradient in this section, the river flattens out and slows down. Generally this will be a Class 1 moving water paddle, there will be a few technical spots -so I posted it as a Class 2. At the present low flow it will be possible for a learner to sneak up on the technical areas and choose your options. We last paddled this section 3 seasons ago and encountered some large wood. Being the first paddle this season the wood situation is an unknown, we will deal with it. This section has the abated diversion from the Boston Mill, Shedd OR. A man made rapid is now where the weir was, they did a good job on it and it presents as a splashy play spot. A paddler will need a short durable plastic boat or an IK, and skills to maneuver and steer. This would be a good paddle for a learner transitioning from moving water to a little splash. Register for this paddle to receive an Email Friday evening with details about the Launch, Shuttle, and Takeout.
