This paddle will be about 15 miles, a bit of a long one. There is a section between Stayton and Buell Miller which we paddled for the first time last year, it was crazy fun with huge standing waves in the 3' range and much dancing splash. The splash spots all dropped into safe pools - minimal hazards. Below Buell Miller expect swift gravel bar tongues and some random large wood to avoid. Being a longer paddle bring a double size lunch. This paddle not suitable for beginners. You will need a boat that is durable and maneuverable. The Launch and Takeout are developed and easy.
