This section of the Alsea River is small and scenic/rural. It's mostly a beginners' whitewater trip, with two Class II drops toward the end of the run (Soggy Sneakers (5th Ed.), #17, p. 53). This run has lots of Class 1 ledges and riffles. Some of these drops have sizable standing waves. Even at low water, Rock Crusher and Hellion are still Class II drops. Paddlers will need moving water abilities, helmets, and appropriate gear for cold water.

At this time, Alsea River is running about 1100 cfs. While it's been slowly going down, there is serious rain on the coast today (Tuesday). I'll monitor the river levels, but I don't expect it to get too high.
