The Great Willamette Cleanup -- WKCC, October 19, 2024

The WKCC, as in years before, participated in the Great Willamette Clean Up and took on the stretch from from Clearwater to Aspen/D Street. Thanks to all the members who "got dirty for good!" Special thanks to Mari Baldwin for organizing and John Dunphy for powering his drift boat!

Winter Membership Meeting, March 2023. Steve Hernandez, Park Ranger, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department on maintaining and enhancing the Willamette River Greenway properties from Junction City north to the Molalla RIver. Watch here

Spring Membership Meeting, May 2022. Bobby Mercier, Cultural Advisor for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, was discussing the Grand Ronde Canoe Journey and Kalapuyan cultural connections to the greater Willamette watershed and beyond. Watch here

Spring Membership Meeting, May 2021. Larry Warren, Oregon State Marine Board, spoke about OSMB's mission and its vision for serving non-motorized boaters.
Boating Obstruction Reporting Tools (BORT) was introduced, with a focus on WE BORT, the Whitewater Edition of BORT, a mobile application designed in partnership with American Whitewater.

The Willamette Kayak and Canoe Club has a membership of over 300, and is based in the Willamette Valley of Western Oregon. The club's goals are to:
- Organize paddling trips on all types of water, all over Oregon and other Western states, for its members.
- Help members acquire the confidence and skills needed for kayaking and canoeing.
- Promote the enjoyment, challenges, thrills, and camaraderie of kayaking and canoeing.
- Promote and practice water safety.
- Help conserve, preserve and protect the free-flowing rivers of Oregon.

Waterway Access & Aquatic Invasive Species Permits for boats 10 feet & longer.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, the Oregon Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Permit required for non-motorized boats 10 feet and longer has been replaced by a Waterway Access Permit. The AIS Permit remains for out-of-state motorized boats and is included in Oregon boat registration fees.

Oregon Invasive Species Permits Now called Waterway Access Permit is required on boats 10ft or longer. $7/day, $19/year, $30/two year. Available on-line or at BiMart, Walmart, and others.

Washington State also requires a Discover Pass to park at most state park boat ramps. $10/day or $30 /year plus processing fee.
