Could be updated due to conditions, Likely will be the Lower Calapooia River, Linn Co OR near Albany
Venue to be announced but likely will be the Lower Calapooia to its confluence with the Willamette River.
Calapooia River, Linn County OR in the proximity of Brownsville OR
Launch is below the Falls at McKercher and will present like a shallow gravely creek. Very similar in appearance to the Lower McKenzie but smaller in width and volume. The last time we paddled this was in 2020, this section was surprisingly absent of woody debris. This is a seasonal paddle we need to do before the flow drops for Summer. Best success will be in shallow drafting plastic canoes and IK‘s. Distance 7.5 miles. Launch & takeout are primitive but near our vehicles.

Every year, WKCC sets up safety for the Riverfest Paddlecross Race. This involves standing by at strategic river spots to help boaters who swim and cheer everyone on the is racing. You don't need to be an 'expert' boater to help out, just have a boat and a throw rope. Marcel Bieg will be overseeing the safety volunteers. We will send more details to participants.
