Lane County OR in proximity of Harrisburg OR
An evening moving water paddle of 4.3 miles below Harrisburg. This is the Main Channel Willamette at its Summer level. Wood is scant but where present it is large and needs to be avoided. Big open river with good depth and flow. This paddle is suitable for Learners having some boat control. Both the Launch and Takeout are developed and easy. Register for this paddle to receive an email Tuesday evening with details about the Launch, Shuttle, & Takeout.
Hendricks Bridge County Park
We‘re planning another fun day on the McKenzie for our summer paddles & potluck picnic. We‘ve reserved the shelter at Hendricks Bridge County Park on the lower McKenzie River. Details to follow. Questions? event@wkcc.org
Come out and explore Leaburg Reservoir for a leisurely flatwater paddle and then head over to Hendrick’s Park afterwards for WKCC’s 50th Anniversary and Summer Picnic.
This is an easy out and back of approximately 3 miles with a possible option to explore a narrow-hidden passage around a tiny island.
This paddle is appropriate for recreational kayaks, canoes and SUPs. Inflatable kayaks may find this paddle to be somewhat challenging if paddling against wind.
All participants must wear a PFD, carry a whistle and have a Waterway Access Pass if your watercraft is 10 feet or longer.
A Lane County Park Pass is required at this launch.
Non-members Please Email Mary@WKCC.org for questions about how to sign up.
Lane County OR in proximity of Walterville OR
This paddle is the "Moving Water" offering for our Club gathering. The Takeout for this paddle will deliver you to Hendricks Park which is the location of our club gathering and picnic in the afternoon. While not true White Water, this is a sassy moving water section with some splash. It is marginally suitable for a beginner, you will need boat control to obtain your line and stay off obstacles. You need a boat that is maneuverable and durable. This paddle with have a large attendance of seasoned paddlers with skills to help should an upset occur, upsets in the past have been scant on this section. Distance about 9+ miles. Both the Launch and Takeout are developed and easy. Register for this paddle to receive an Email Friday evening with details about the Launch, Shuttle, and Takeout.
This trip will be one of the whitewater options for the club rendezvous celebrating the WKCC 50th anniversary. This section is for intermediate to advanced paddlers. It‘s fast, nearly continuous Class 2 with several larger rapids. There are lots of waves, small eddies and options for surfing, making this a fun run in hard shell kayaks and IKs. Suitable for advanced canoeists and SUPs with extensive Class 2/3 whitewater experience. For those in a hard shell kayak, a good roll is strongly advised, as swims can be long due to the fast current.
A favorite variation of the classic Soggy Sneakers run #92. We start with a couple class 2/2+ warmups, then run class 3 Brown‘s Hole and Marten Rapids (Brown‘s can be easily avoid on the right). The 2nd half is a fun play section, including the unique Weeping Wall.
Trip is part of the club‘s 50th Anniversary Rendezvous.
